Each year, BrandONE pledges to give back to the communities its franchise brand partners serve by donating to a deserving nonprofit organization. The privilege of choosing a nonprofit to support goes to B1’s Lead Developer of the Year. In 2022, that was Sarah Van Aken, who selected Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) to receive the honor!
FOW are stewards of the Wissahickon Valley Park, located in Philadelphia, PA. Ruffian Tittmann, executive director at FOW, expressed his gratitude and intent for the donation, saying: “This support will help advance our work to improve the forest habitat, park user experience, and stormwater management, now and for generations to come.”
It was an easy choice for Sarah, who has always held a special place in her heart for the Wissahickon Valley Park. She enjoyed the park’s open spaces as a much-needed escape during the pandemic’s lock-down phase and still walks her dog there every day. She hopes that BrandONE’s $10,000 donation will help FOW combat the impacts an increase in visitors since the pandemic has had on the park system.
